Rene Dennis has been a longtime advocate and contributor to the ADF and joined its mission after learning of its efforts from the president, “EZ”. Rene currently serves as Deputy Provost at the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) in the Middle East. As a member of the university’s senior leadership, Rene is responsible for the recruitment of vice provosts, deans and other senior administrators and establishing the processes of review and accountability for deans and other senior managers. Rene is also instrumental in providing insight to provisions of faculty governance and serves on the HR Oversight Committee, helping to realign the staffing efforts and policies in human resources across the university.
Prior to arriving in Dubai in December 2008, Rene served nearly 29 years at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). For 25 of those years she served as Administrator of Executive Searches for the Chancellor, where she helped recruit the deans, vice chancellors and directors for that campus, and implemented the review process for all senior administrators. At the time of her recruitment to the UAEU, she had served for three years as Assistant Dean for Development and External Affairs in the UCLA School of Nursing. Rene also lead the UCLA Black Faculty and Staff Association for two terms as its President, and helped provide career development, community & social awareness to that constituent body. Rene engaged her inner circle of administrators while on the Chancellor’s staff, to assist “EZ” in bringing the academic focus of peace to the forefront of the UCLA administration to help move the ADF vision closer to fruition.
As a Los Angeles native, Rene also spent time in the entertainment industry as both an actress and vocalist (under another name), which included travels abroad on music tours and experiences in theater, television and film. Rene is the proud mother of twin daughters and a son who reside in Los Angeles, which she will proclaim is her greatest accomplishment of all.
